On Saturday, August 2, 2025, we attended a memorial ceremony in Hodonín commemorating the 30th anniversary of the tragic deaths of two Czech soldiers— Luďek Zeman and Petr Valeš. Both were killed in the line of duty during the UN peacekeeping mission UNPROFOR at the Tango 23 Repetitor observation post in the former Yugoslavia. Today, August 5, 2025, marks exactly 30 years since that event.
As a Czech knife manufacturer with a long tradition, we felt the need not only to honor their memory but also to actively support those who survived similar missions and now face life’s challenges. That is why, on the very day of the memorial ceremony, we unveiled a limited-edition Repetitor knife with a blue handle, which symbolically references the colors of the United Nations.
We produced only 100 pieces of this edition. Each one carries not only visual symbolism but also concrete support: For every knife sold, we will donate 1,000 Kč to the Military Solidarity Fund, which will then provide the total amount of 100,000 Kč to a specific soldier from the UNPROFOR mission who is facing a difficult life situation.
This edition is primarily intended for veterans of the UNPROFOR mission.
The memorial ceremony in Hodonín was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the War Veterans Association, former mission commanders, and the public. The opening speeches were followed by the laying of flowers at the memorial plaque and a solemn Mass at the local church. The program concluded with a tribute to Luděk Zeman at his grave.
An important part of the commemoration is the exhibition “Tango-23 Repetitor – A Friendship That Never Ended,” which will be held from July 28 to August 15, 2025, at the Regional Center in Hodonín. Visitors can view period photographs, authentic artifacts, and dioramas that bring to life the atmosphere of the mission and the fates of its participants.
The Repetitor knife is also part of our long-term “War Veteran Project,” which aims to pay tribute to and express gratitude toward those who served in the armed forces of the Czech Republic. In addition to the Repetitor model, this edition also features knives such as the Storm and the Golak, each of which carries the legacy and symbolism of military service.
For us at Mikov, this event was not just a commemoration, but also a reaffirmation of the values we believe in— respect, courage, and responsibility.
