Richter Extra
We are pleased to introduce our latest line of carpentry chisels, created to mark the 100th anniversary of our factory’s founding in 1919 and named after our founder, Mr. Václav Richter. These chisels represent the pinnacle of our manufacturing processes, combined with unique materials, heat treatment, and machining to produce joiner’s tools of the highest quality. Each chisel bears our RICHTER EXTRA trademark.
Handles
RICHTER chisel handles are made fromdomestic ash wood, which is known for its strength and beautiful grain pattern. Their surface is finely sanded and then hand-polished for maximum comfort when holding the chisel while working. Sturdy stainless steel sockets prevent the wood from splitting, and leather pads absorb the shock of hammer blows.
RICHTER chisel blades are forged using traditional methods from Cr-V steel and then cryogenically treated to achieve a minimum hardness of 62 HRc. Subsequent grinding and polishing ensure a mirror-like finish with very thin edges, which facilitate work in tight spaces such as dovetail joints. The bottom surface of the blade is manufactured with minimal production tolerances to make any necessary re-grinding of the bottom surface during initial sharpening as easy as possible. The front bevel is ground to 24°. The choice of a chamfer, if any, should be based on how the chisel will be used.
Blades
Maintenance
The chisel blade should always be protected with the included blade guard to prevent damage to the cutting edge and to ensure the user’s safety. Our RICHTER wooden case is ideal for safe storage; the storage pouches we also supply are very practical. As with any other tool steel, the blades can corrode if left unprotected. Always protect chisel blades from corrosion with oil , wax, or another corrosion inhibitor.
