Mikov will unveil its new "pocket" knife collection at Designblok

At the Design Blok exhibition in Prague, Mikov will present a new collection of pocket folding knives called “pocket.” The collection is the result of a long-term collaboration and development effort between Mikov, the Olgoj Chorchoj design studio, and the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design. The designers are Michal Froněk and Jan Němeček.

“The goal of the collaboration was to create a knife that would appeal to a customer group that has been somewhat neglected until now. People who appreciate high-quality and practical products, but who also want the items they use every day to meet high aesthetic standards,” said Miloš Pařík, CEO of Mikov.

The “Pocket” knife is available in three sizes—miniature (M), medium (S), and large (L). It is made from high-quality materials, and during production, Mikov emphasizes precise craftsmanship down to the smallest details.

“I designed the Pocket for myself as well,” said designer Michal Froněk. “I visited a whole range of the best cutlery shops in Europe, but nowhere could I find a knife that met my standards—clean lines, strength, durability, and precision in craftsmanship. A knife that I wouldn’t hesitate to use at any time—and one that isn’t socially unacceptable even when a lady pulls it out of her purse.”

Mikov will launch its “pocket” knife collection immediately following its European premiere atDesignblok. Overseas customers will then be introduced to the knife a week later at Asia’s largest design festival, Design Week in Tokyo, where Mikov will be the sole representative of Czech industry exhibiting this year.

“The collaboration with Mikov is very important for our studio. Thanks to it, our students can gain hands-on experience with a traditional company and see for themselves that high-quality products in every respect can also be manufactured in the Czech Republic. The combination of Mikov’s knife-makers’ craftsmanship and expertise with the fresh perspectives of young designers will surely bear much fruit,” said Jan Němeček, co-designer of the knife.

Those interested can view the knives during the Designblok exhibition at the Mikov booth. They will also be on exclusive display at the 360° Lounge Bar of Prague’s “fusion hotel” on Panská Street. The knives can be ordered from the online store at www.mikov.cz.
