On Tuesday, February 23, representatives from Mikov attended the opening of the Czech Grand Design (CGD15) exhibition, which took place at the National Technical Museum in Prague. The company’s display is part of the exhibition featuring the finalists in the competition’s main categories.
Mikov advanced to the finals of the competition in the Manufacturer of the Year category for its pocket knife collection. The pocket knife collection is also part of the Olgoj Chorchoj studio’s nomination for the Designer of the Year award.
“Advancing to the finals of this prestigious competition is a great honor for us,” said Petr Balej, Mikov’s marketing director. “We are truly proud that our knives have succeeded in such a competitive field, which includes, for example, the Škoda SUPERB and Moser’s collection of glass vases.”
The Czech Grand Design exhibition is held under the auspices of the Minister of Culture, the Minister of Industry and Trade, and the Mayor of Prague. The finalists for the 2015 competition were selected by the Czech Design Academy, which consists of experts, theorists, and journalists from the fields of design and art.
The overall winners of the 2015 Czech Grand Design Award will be announced at a gala evening at the Estates Theater on Saturday, March 19. The exhibition of the finalists at the Technical Museum will remain open until May 1, 2016.
