In light of the referendum on remaining in the European Union, which took place last week in the United Kingdom (known as “Brexit”), Mikov does not expect to suffer any losses in its exports or imports.
“We import materials from other European Union countries for the production of knives and tooling, and our exports are directed primarily to Germany, the Netherlands, and France, and outside Europe to the U.S. and Russia,” said Jan Marek, Mikov’s sales director.
The only component Mikov imports from the United Kingdom is the sliding film for knife liners, which, however, is a practically negligible item in terms of the knife’s total price. Therefore, even a significant drop in the value of the pound or the potential imposition of tariffs would not affect the price of the knives.
Mikov is currently the largest Czech manufacturer of sports, hunting, outdoor, and pocket knives. In its products, the company emphasizes both build quality and design, as evidenced, for example, by the fact thatthis yearit won the prestigious Czech Grand Design award and the international Red Dot Award for its Pocket knife collection.
