The high-quality folding knives that the nominated boys received from the company areapracticalgiftthat will remind them that they did not stand by indifferently when others needed help.
For example, the knives were given to two ninth-grade students from České Budějovice who, on their way to school, pulledadrowningmanand his dog from the frozen Vltava River near the Luční weir, saving both their lives. Another recipient wasa boywho did not hesitate to administer first aid to his grandfatherafterhesuddenlylost consciousness.
“We are aCzechcompany that strives to support all the good traditions that are developing here. Recognizing bravery and selflessness in helping those in need is, of course, one of the finest of these traditions,” added Karel Ježek.

The Michal Velíšek Award is presented annually by the ADRA Foundation and TV Nova for extraordinary acts of civic bravery and courage. The award is named after a TV Nova editor who was murdered while coming to the defense of a woman who was being attacked.
