The Story of Mikov Knives: From "Rybička" to "Predator" in the Senate

Visitors to the exhibition “From Rybička to Predátor,” which opens on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Senate Exhibition Hall, will learn about the history of Czech knife-making.

At the exhibition, held under the patronage of Senator Zbyněk Linhart, guests will see how the Czech knife manufacturer Mikov is carrying on an industrial knife-making tradition in Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland that dates back nearly three centuries.

The exhibition tells the story retrospectively. Therefore, immediately upon entering, visitors will see the state-of-the-art Czech knives from the Progress series. Prominent space is dedicated to the classic “Rybička” pocket knife and the “Predator” switchblade.  But the exhibition also features classic hunting, military, sports, and outdoor knives, as well as specialty blades—broadswords and sabers.

As visitors leave the exhibition hall, they will encounter the roots of the Czech cutlery tradition, where the figures who have most influenced the current industrial cutlery industry in Mikulášovice are presented.

The exhibition will be open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Senate until February 25, 2018.

Mikov is the traditional and largest Czech manufacturer of cutlery, office equipment, and industrial fasteners.
