Visitors Give Positive Reviews of Mikova's Exhibition at the Senate

The exhibition “Czech Tradition—The Story of Mikov Knives: From Rybička to Predator” at the Senate Exhibition Hall runs through February 25, 2018.

“I really liked the exhibition. It reminded me of my childhood; I had a ‘Rybička’ too,” wrote one of the visitors in the guest book, signing as “Grandma Zdenka from Prosek.” She represents the largest group of people who associate Mikov and the “Rybička” with nostalgic memories of their childhood.

Despite this, however, the exhibition is not merely a retrospective look back at the glorious past of the largest cutlery company in the Czech Republic. The knives on display from the Progress series, the innovative Predator switchblades, and knife designs illustrating the company’s collaboration with the applied design studio at Prague’s UMPRUM confirm that Mikov’s tradition serves as a solid foundation from which a modern and innovative cutlery company is growing.

The exhibition, held under the patronage of Senator Zbyněk Linhart, showcases not only knives but also office supplies and fasteners. These products, marketed under the RON brand, are also part of Mikov’s product line, and the company exports them worldwide.

Mikov is based in Mikulášovice in the Děčín region, which lies in the heart of what is known as Bohemian Switzerland. After the exhibition at the Senate concludes, all exhibits will continue to be on display at the Museum of Knife-Making Tradition. Mikov has been operating the museum in Mikulášovice since 2012 and last year opened it in new premises in the town center. For more information about the museum, visit or www.munotr.cz.
