To mark the end of the year marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia, the company released several limited-edition knives, whose launch attracted a great deal of attention.
Exactly on the anniversary of the country’s founding, a limited edition of 100 UTON military knives was released, and it sold out within 45 minutes of the announcement. Two months after its release, it is safe to say that the collector’s value of these knives is several times higher than their purchase price. Knife number 001 was then auctioned off for 50,000 Kč, with the proceeds going to the Police and Firefighters Foundation.
The second limited edition inspired by the year 1918 is a letter opener issued to mark the 100th anniversary of the release of the first Czechoslovak postage stamp. The letter opener combines both industrial manufacturing traditions of the Šluknov region—knife-making and small office equipment.
Finally, collectors were delighted by a limited edition of the newly designed Rybička knife, which the company produced exclusively for the Nespresso brand.
In addition to these limited editions, Mikov continued to produce its standard line of cutlery. Among the most sought-after knives were, as always, the Rybička, the Predator folding knife, the Fixir hunting knife, and the UTON military knife.
For Mikov, 2018 was the first full year following its merger with Conmetron and the expansion of its traditional knife production to include small office equipment as well as industrial staplers and nailers.
