A knife with a handle shaped like a woman’s foot was one of the traditional products of the Mikulášovice cutlery factories as early as the beginning of the last century. Due to numerous requests from customers,theso-called“Nožička”is now making a comeback on the Czech and global markets.
“Mikov used to manufacture the Nožička in the 1990s and discontinued production more than ten years ago. Recently, however, we’ve been asked more and more often whether we’d start selling the ‘Nožička’ again, so we’ve decided to reintroduce it into our product line,” said Martin David, Mikov’s sales director.
Customers can now enjoy a knife that looks the same on the outside as it did in the past, but with an innovative design that ensures greater strength and durability. This will certainly be appreciated by hikers, for whom the “Nožička”-shaped handle can serve as a welcome source of inspiration for tackling even the most challenging trails.
“We offered the ‘Nožička’ to retailers at the beginning of the year, and it met with great interest both at home and abroad. The first large order of several hundred units was immediately shipped to France. It’s actually a sort of ‘little sister’ to the ‘Rybička,’ so we believe it will captivate our customers and bring them just as much joy as the ‘Rybička’ does,” added Martin David.
Mikov is a traditional and the largest Czech manufacturer of all types of knives, office equipment, and industrial fasteners, based in Mikulášovice, in the heart of what is known as Bohemian Switzerland. In early 2019, it also acquired Narex Bystřice, the largest Czech manufacturer of hand tools.
Among the popular knives in Mikov’s portfolio, in addition to the Rybička folding knife, are the Predator switchblade, the military-style UTON, and the luxury Pocket knife set.
