Pocket knives are the first tangible result of the company’s long-term collaboration with the leading Czech design studio Olgoj Chorchoj. During 2014, a decision was made at a joint meeting to launch a knife that would be simple, timeless, elegant, and uncompromising in terms of craftsmanship and materials.
But before the characteristic minimalist and original lines took shape in the following years and the first production series was released, an immense amount of work had to be done. This included, among other things, thorough research into the global cutlery market, fueled by the passion and enthusiasm of the two creators—Professors Michal Froňek and Jiří Němeček of Prague’s UMPRUM, who are behind the Olgoj Chorchoj brand.
The knife set made its debut at Designblok 2015 in Prague, where it won the Editors’ Choice Award. This was followed by success at Tokyo Design Week 2015 and the Manufacturer of the Year award at Czech Grand Design 2015. All of this was then crowned with the 2016 Red Dot Award.
When we say “set,” it means the knives come in three sizes—S, M, and L. Their blades are made of Böhler N 690 steel, while the other components and the handle are made of standard stainless steel. However, everything is coated with a special DLC coating that protects the knife from damage.
The Pocket is therefore not only a practical tool for everyday use but also a stylish fashion accessory—a knife that looks great in both men’s pockets and women’s handbags.
