Folding knives without a safety lock

Folding knives can be classified according to a variety of criteria. One of these is whether the knife has a lock or not. Knives without a lock are simpler, lighter, and also less expensive.

Perhaps the best-known example of this group is the various versions of the so-called “officer’s knife.” This knife originated sometime in the 19th century, and we can find it as a type in knife factory catalogs from Nixdorf (Mikulášovice) that are over a hundred years old. Mikov currently markets it under the name “Stovka.”

But the Stovka is not alone among knives without a lock. This group also includes the famous “Rybička,” as well as the “Nožička,” knives for craftsmen and fishermen, and even the luxury “Pocket.”

Of course, this type of knife is not intended for rough handling or heavy-duty work. Hunters won’t use them to process game, nor will they serve soldiers in hand-to-hand combat. On the other hand, this type of knife is often equipped with a whole range of other smaller blades, openers, spikes, and corkscrews.

With such a small pocket knife, you can handle a wide range of situations—from opening a bottle of wine to tightening a screw, stripping insulation, or opening a package from an online store.

Perhaps that is precisely why knives without a safety lock are so popular. They can be found in the pockets of many men, but also in the handbags of many women; for whom, to ensure these knives are not merely a plain piece of metal and plastic, we produce versions adorned with crystals.
