Hubert is our latest hunting knife to hit the market. It’s named after the patron saint of hunters, Saint Hubert, whose feast day is November 3—right in the middle of the fall hunting season.
When we began working on a new hunting knife some time ago, we wanted it to be based as much as possible on the needs of hunters and gamekeepers. That’s why we reached out to experts from the Order of Saint Hubert in Kuks to partner with us on its development.
The knife was completed and officially christened in 2018 in Kuks, but our collaboration was far from over. For every knife sold, we donate 95 Kč to the František Antonín Špork Hospital Foundation in Kuks, which was established and is managed by the Order of Saint Hubert and focuses primarily on environmental and nature conservation.
However, hunters and gamekeepers looking for folding knives for the outdoors and hunting don’t have to limit themselves to the Hubert. In addition to it, we also offer the smaller Fixir, which is our longest-produced hunting knife. Those who need a knife specifically for working with large game, on the other hand, can choose the sturdy Hunter.
And just out of curiosity, who was Saint Hubert, anyway? He lived in the 8th century in Aquitaine and was a nobleman and hunter. He married, but his wife soon died in childbirth. Shortly thereafter, he is said to have seen a white stag with a cross between its antlers, an experience that so moved him that he became a priest and later a bishop. He is sometimes also called the Apostle of Arden, where he served.
The fact that we named this knife after this saint has a deeper reason than simply because “it seemed like a good fit”—it’s connected to our effort to support meaningful charitable projects. In addition to our collaboration with the Order of Saint Hubert, we’ve applied the same principle, for example, to the War Veteran project, which focuses on military knives and serves as our systematic support for the Military Solidarity Fund.
