Paper clip

That’s what we all call it, but its proper name is “round paper clip.” It’s actually just a completely ordinary piece of wire that we don’t even notice, but without which every office in the world would very quickly face enormous problems.

After all, it’s impossible to clip several sheets of paper together without damaging or punching holes in them using anything other thana “curved paper clip.”Not to mention that one end of it can come in handy for opening a jammed computer CD drive.

Mikov supplies not only paper clips in various sizes and colors, but also offers a special variant—the “paper clip with a ramp.”As its name suggests, this design is meant to make it easier to slide sheets of paper into the clip.

All Mikov paper clips (under the Ron brand) are manufactured on special machines at our plant in Lipová. And the production process is by no means as simple as it might seem at first glance. To ensure that every clip is identical to the next, that the material has optimal strength and hardness, and that the edges aren’t so sharp that they damage the clipped papers—all of this must be monitored and checked.

We’ll show you what the machines that produce these important yet unassuming office supplies in Bohemian Switzerland look like some other time. And even though the production of Predator folding knives, for example, is of course technologically more complex and labor-intensive, we’ll see that the production of paper clips also requires real skill and honest craftsmanship.
