Czech Switzerland is one of the most popular tourist destinations, attracting about one million visitors annually from both the Czech Republic and abroad. And it’s not just the wild gorges of the Kamenice River in Hřensko—it also includes towns like Krásná Lípa, Šluknov, Dolní Poustevna, and our own Mikulášovice.
We at MIkov also identify with Bohemian Switzerland, and we’re proud to be among the few local producers who can label their product (specifically the legendary Rybička) with the Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland regional brand. This label has been awarded here since 2010, so this year it will celebrate its first milestone anniversary.
As holders of this label, we’re in good company alongside a total of 41 products and 15 experiences that received the award not merely because they’re based in the region, but because they contribute to its good reputation, are of exceptional quality, and are produced using traditional methods.
Of course, we’re delighted with every local product that has earned the certificate. But since we’re a company that has also made a name for itself with our Fixir, Hunter, and Hubert, we were delighted that, just before last Christmas, wild boar goulash and wild boar in its own juices—dishes prepared at our family-run business in Dolní Poustevna—also received awards.
So if you haven’t visited us yet, we recommend planning a trip. It’s beautiful here in every season. And if it happens to be raining during your visit—we invite you to come stay dry—in our Museum of Knife-Making Tradition.
