Starting in the summer of 2020, Mikov will take over production of the legendary Maďarič knives and will also become the owner of the trademark of the same name. For anyone interested in Maďarič knives, Mikov’s takeover of production will not result in any significant changes. The most popular models will gradually become available for order on Mikov’s online store.
The agreement for Mikov to take over the brand is the result of a long-term collaboration, and its main goal was to preserve the Maďarič brand for future generations of knife enthusiasts.
In addition to the Maďarič knife brand, Mikov is also taking over the sponsorship and organizational management of the traditional Brno International Knife Exhibitions, which have been inextricably linked with Lubomír Maďarič.
“Mr. Lubomír Maďarič will oversee the models of his brand, which will be gradually added to the portfolio, and he will also contribute as a designer to the development of new knives. However, he will not develop his brand independently outside of Mikov, and Mikov will also be its exclusive distributor,” said Martin David, Mikov’s sales director.
Lubomír Maďarič has long been among the best-known and finest Czech knife makers. His products are highly regarded by connoisseurs around the world. In a long-standing collaboration with Major Roman Hippík, he has been producing special knives for the military that have proven their worth on combat missions in Afghanistan and Iraq, and former U.S. President Bill Clinton is the owner of one of his hunting knives.

We view this above all as a great responsibility, and we are therefore determined to do everything we can to take this brand’s reputation to an even higher level in collaboration with Lubomír Maďarič,” concluded Martin David.
Mikov, headquartered in Mikulášovice, located in the region known as “Bohemian Switzerland,” is the largest Czech manufacturer of cutlery and office equipment. Since 2019, it has also owned the hand tool manufacturer Narex Bystřice.
