Combining artisanal tradition with outstanding design and a world-renowned brand is a challenge you can’t turn down. That’s why we didn’t hesitate for a moment when we were approached to participate in the project for a new limited-edition Rybička knife for Nespresso, designed by Olgoj Chorchoj.

And it truly was a challenge this time—because unlike its older sister, the new Rybička isn’t smooth; its surface features a raised, scale-like pattern. The design is beautiful, but how do you technically manufacture a tool that can evenly imprint the entire structure onto recycled aluminum within the rounded shape of the Rybička’s handle? Challenges, however, are meant to be overcome—and we succeeded.
As a traditional cutlery company, we’re proud that our products involve a great deal of handwork. So it’s not machines that churn out hundreds of thousands of soulless knives without human touch, but the specific hands of a cutler who must grasp each one, assemble on special jigs, sharpen, and finally inspect to ensure everything is perfectly in tune, so that a flawless product reaches the customer.
And of course, other factors are important to us as well. The little fish has become a symbol of recycling—a fundamental part of our shared struggle for a clean planet Earth. Equally important is that the proceeds from sales go to the Tereza Maxová Foundation for Children —specifically to provide concrete assistance to women and children in shelters, helping them start a new life.
There are simply knives, and then there are Knives. The Nespresso Fish belongs to the latter category—with a capital K.
