The Taurus tank knife, which Mikov launched on the national holiday of October 28, 2020, has been one of the most frequently ordered items ever since. The company will begin shipping the first units as early as the beginning of December.
“The offer of a tank ride experience for the first 20 interested customers sold out on the very day it was announced. Everyone who made it into this group of customers can expect information from us in the coming days on how and where they can redeem their bonus,” said Martin David, the company’s sales director.
The knife, which was produced in collaboration with the tank battalion command based on a design by Roman Hippík, references tank forces in its design. It was launched in two series. The T0 series is intended exclusively for members of the 73rd Tank Battalion, while the T1 series is for the general public.
The Taurus is made of N690 cutlery steel and features a special DLC coating. Not only is this coating completely abrasion-resistant—as it is used to protect the most heavily stressed machine components—but its black color also prevents glare on the blade.
“We greatly appreciate our collaboration with the designer, Roman Hippík, and we look forward to launching another knife based on his design this fall. It will be called Storm and will commemorate the first overseas mission of the then Czechoslovak Army in the Persian Gulf. Everyone who purchases a Storm will also contribute 300 CZK to the Military Solidarity Fund,” concluded Martin David.
Mikov, a purely Czech company based in Mikulášovice in the heart of so-called Bohemian Switzerland, is the largest Czech manufacturer of cutlery, office equipment, industrial nailers, and fasteners. The Mikov Group also includes Narex Bystřice, a traditional manufacturer of hand tools.
