Knives, unlike electronics or household appliances, for example, have a longer lifespan. Often, a knife can remain in the spotlight for decades. And it doesn’t have to be just the iconic “Rybička” or the military “UTON.” It can even be an ordinary kitchen knife.
Even though, as a company, we’re launching new kitchen knife sets—such as the Ruby series recently—many of our customers swear by seemingly ordinary kitchen knives with plastic handles.
But this is no coincidence at all. Behind their design is Stanislav Lachman—a man nicknamed the “Josef Lada of Czech design.” The older generation encountered his designs almost daily at every turn—whether they were blenders, irons, or vacuum cleaners.
But since technological progress cannot be stopped, most of his designs now sit only on museum shelves or, perhaps out of nostalgia, are tucked away in the closets of older homes. The kitchen knives, however, are still being produced—and not out of nostalgia at all. A well-designed knife handle proved its worth years ago and continues to do so today. And why? Because timeless design goes hand in hand with ergonomics. And those are values that simply never go out of style.
If you’d like to try out how knives designed by a legendary Czech designer feel in your hand while working in the kitchen, you can take advantage of our special offer—a discounted set aptly named“Little Helper.” But we’ve prepared many more knife sets for you as part of our “Looking Forward to Spring” promotion.
