In its dealings with manufacturers of counterfeit knives, Mikov utilizes all the tools provided by the legal frameworks of the Czech Republic and the European Union. The goal is unequivocally to prevent them from selling such goods.
“We are convinced that the fight against counterfeiters is worth the effort. And the fact that we report on the positive results of our actions is also intended to encourage other companies that may be facing similar problems. It simply makes sense to stand up against injustice,” continued Karel Ježek.
Unlike the 2014 case involving counterfeit “Rybička” knives, which ended with a final judgment and a fine imposed on the counterfeiting company, these two manufacturers agreed to a settlement under which they committed not only to removing existing counterfeit knives from the market but also to destroying them. Based on their written statement, Mikov therefore refrained from further legal action and the enforcement of financial penalties.
“Our goal is to establish fair conditions in the market so that no one can profit at the expense of someone else’s craftsmanship and tradition. However, it goes without saying that if no agreement had been reached, we would have proceeded with full force,” concluded Karel Ježek.
Mikov is a company based in the heart of Bohemian Switzerland. It is the largest Czech manufacturer of cutlery, office equipment, and industrial fasteners and nailers. The Mikov group of companies also includes Narex Bystřice, the largest Czech producer of hand tools.
This past August, Mikov launched its latest product—the Elipt folding knife—which expanded its extensive portfolio of hunting, military, and craft knives.
