On April 21, 2022, Mr. Vladimír Trojan will celebrate his 80th birthday. In 1957, he began an apprenticeship at a cutlery school, which at the time was the only one of its kind in the country, located in Mikulášovice. As the top student in his third year, he was given the opportunity to work in the tool shop. He then enlisted in the military, and when he returned home, there was suddenly no position for him in the tool shop.
He loved his work; he often stayed overnight at the factory, as that was when his best ideas came to him . Virtually every knife produced by Mikov up through the 1990s bears the mark of his craftsmanship. He is also inextricably linked to the development of the UTON and Predator knives.
He still has his desk in the development department to this day. Although retired, he still comes to the workshop several times a week to work on knives that are among the most technically demanding to craft. And in doing so, he continues to come up with new ideas and solutions that propel Mikov forward. Simply put, watching him at work is like watching a world-class pianist—it’s a true concert.
