The Nožíry Festival—a traditional social and cultural event—is returning to Mikulášovice after a three-year hiatus caused by pandemic restrictions. On August 6, during the summer vacation, the festivities will bring new life primarily to the local natural swimming area, the sports stadium, and the Museum of Knife-Making Traditions, which has expanded its exhibits.
A rich all-day program is planned for both children and adults, featuring performances by a number of well-known personalities. Among other things, another knife from the “Soccer Legends” collector’s series will be officially unveiled, this time featuring a portrait of Jan Koller, who will also attend the event in person. Following its ceremonial premiere, a soccer match will take place, in which the FC Mikulášovice veterans’ team will face off against a special team of legends led by international player Jan Berg.
The Czech Army will also be at the soccer stadium to demonstrate close-quarters combat, and members of the Fire and Rescue Service will demonstrate how to extricate a person from a crashed car. Another new product from Mikov—the upgraded Rescue knife—will thus make its debut right in the heat of action.
Guests who enjoy the down-to-earth humor of comedian Milan Pitkin will be able to catch his performance at the swimming pool. Tech-savvy knife enthusiasts, on the other hand, will surely appreciate the free access to the knife museum, and there will also be a Mikov knife sales booth.
The Knife Festival will officially kick off at 10:00 a.m. at the swimming pool and will conclude late in the evening with a firefighter’s fountain display, fireworks, and a performance by DJ Kostlán. Of course, there’s much more in store for you throughout the day—check the program for details. We look forward to seeing you there.
