Being a collector is a passion. Emperor Charles IV, who collected relics, could certainly tell us a thing or two about it. So you can collect practically anything—stamps, badges, tourist stamps, little flags, and, of course, knives.
There are various approaches to knife collecting. You can collect knives from a single brand, and we’re delighted that our customers send us amazing photos of their Mikov knife collections. Then there are collectors of specific types of knives—such as hunting or military knives—or collectors of specialties, such as limited editions.
But be careful—a distinction must be made here. Essentially anyone can create a “limited edition” of any knife. All you need to do is have some inscription or company logo engraved on the blade—we’re happy to accommodate anyone, as long as it’s even remotely technically feasible. However, that is not a limited edition of our knives. There are only a few true limited editions. Most of them are long since sold out, and rare pieces are selling on auction sites for many times their original price. These include, for example, the UTON commemorating the 100th anniversary of the republic, the letter opener marking the 100th anniversary of the first Czechoslovak stamp, and General Bílý’s trench knife.
The latest addition to Mikov’s official limited editions is the “Soccer Legends” series of folding knives. So far, three models have been released—the Lumír “Máňa” Mistr knife, the Jan Berger knife, and the Jan Koller knife. Aside from their theme, they all share the fact that the soccer players themselves contributed to the graphic design on the back of the knife. And it’s no secret that we’re preparing more knives featuring truly great soccer personalities.
So if you’re a collector and don’t yet have the complete “Soccer Legends” knife collection, don’t hesitate—there are only a few of the “Máňa” knives left for sale.
