Anyone who enjoys gardening eagerly awaits spring so they can get started as soon as possible. In addition to planting, the duties of gardeners and orchardists also include grafting and budding. What kinds of knives can you use for this work?
Probably the best-known gardening knife is the classic pruning knife. It is a double-edged knife with a wider, curved blade. It is used, for example, to clean up larger cuts made by a saw, to prune more delicate trees, and to rejuvenate dense ornamental shrubs and trees.
More specialized knives include grafting and budding knives. In our selection, these are available in a folding design, either as separate tools—that is, a grafting knife and a budding knife. However, we also sell a combination knife, where you can choose which blade to use for each specific task. And if you prefer to graft with a fixed-blade knife, we’d be happy to supply that as well.
All Mikov gardening knives feature a plastic handle that repels dirt and is designed to provide a secure, non-slip grip, ensuring safe and comfortable use.
The blades are made of 420 stainless steel with a hardness of 53–55 HRc. This material offers excellent cutting performance and durability, while also allowing for easy sharpening—even right in the field. Therefore, there is no need to send Mikov gardening knives to specialized shops for sharpening.
