As humanity evolved, hunting also developed its own rules, and hunting techniques and strategies emerged. Naturally, knives evolved hand in hand with these developments. Their purpose, however, always remained the same—to end the suffering of a wounded animal and then process it—that is, to gut and cut it up.
For this reason, the hunting knife—sometimes also called a “zárazák”—has always held an important place among hunting knives. Hunters use it when hunting roe deer for the so-called “stabbing,” that is, killing the game by stabbing it in the neck and severing its spinal cord.
We now sell our own zavazák under the name Pionýr, and it has been part of our product line for over fifty years. During that time, it has gained many fans—not only among hunters, but also among woodsmen, scouts, and fishermen. And it’s no wonder.
It is an elegant, slender knife made of stainless steel that is easy to sharpen. It features a guard to prevent finger injuries while working and a plastic handle with a deer antler-style design that fits comfortably in the hand and doesn’t slip. It comes standard with a leather sheath that allows you to carry it safely on your belt or in a backpack.
