Just like last year—that is, on the first Saturday in August, specifically August 5, 2023, at 12:00 p.m.—the traditional Nožír Festival will kick off at the sports complex in Mikulášovice. And there’s plenty to look forward to this year as well.
We’re putting together a program that will appeal to both children and adults. Another knife from the “Soccer Legends” collector’s series will make its festive debut here, this time featuring a portrait of national team player Vladimír Šmicer. To mark the occasion, there will also be a soccer match in which a team of legends, led by international player Jan Berger, will take on the FC Mikulášovice veterans.
At the soccer stadium, the Czech Army will also present demonstrations of close-quarters combat, the Czech Police will showcase their equipment and technology, and members of the Fire and Rescue Service will demonstrate the extraction of a person from a crashed car using the new-generation Rescue knife.
Knife enthusiasts will certainly enjoy the free admission to the Museum of Knife-Making Tradition, which this year has been specially expanded to include an exhibition dedicated to the story of the UN military mission in the former Yugoslavia at the summit of Tango 23—Repetitor. (You can read about the story of this mission here.) And of course, there will also be a sales booth featuring knives and many other interesting attractions and performances.
The day’s packed program will conclude with a concert featuring the rock bands Na Knop Company, U Práži v garáži, and Krleš.
We look forward to seeing you there.
