Knives Are (Not) Thrown

As young children at camps and on field trips, we often heard a clear warning from our counselors and parents: “Don’t throw knives!” This was usually when we’d pull out our “Rybičky” knives or even larger folding knives and try to see if they’d stick into a stump or a log. (We were well-behaved, so of course we knew not to stick them into a living tree.)

The adults’ rule was, of course, correct at the time, because folding knives—and even fixed-blade knives, which are primarily designed for cutting—are not meant to be thrown. Heroes in adventure movies, but especially athletes and acrobats, use different, specialized knives for throwing. Such throwing knives are well-balanced, and there’s no risk that, if we miss the target and the knife hits the ground, we’ll have to throw it away because a crucial component has broken off.

That’s why our selection also includes knives designed exclusively for throwing. For precision throwing, we offer two types of throwing knives— rounded and angular. Both are the same length—230 mm—and it’s up to you which one you prefer.

Spending your vacation time outdoors with family or friends competing in knife or star-toss tournaments is a great way to have fun. We highly recommend it—you won’t regret it. Just please don’t forget that these are knives, so safety and caution must come first.
