What else you shouldn't miss at this year's Knife-Making Festival

This year’s Nožír Festival will feature a rich program. That’s why we’d like to draw your attention to some of its highlights, which might otherwise be overshadowed by the premiere of the new “Soccer Legends” edition knife featuring Vladimír Šmicer.

Although the presentation by law enforcement agencies is always interesting at the festival, this year we’ll witness a truly exclusive demonstration by members of the Czech Police. For the very first time in the festival’s history, a police helicopter will arrive, from which officers from the SWAT team will rappel down to demonstrate their tactical procedures. Throughout the day, experienced police officers will be on site, ready not only to explain what it means to work for the Czech Police but also to answer questions about police equipment and the demonstrations taking place.

Another exceptional opportunity will be the chance to take a mini-course in close-quarters combat, led by top military instructor Major Roman Hippík. And since Major Hippík is not only the designer of a whole range of military knives and bayonets, he will also give a lecture on military knives at the festival, complete with practical demonstrations.

Incidentally, it was his Repetitor knife that was named after the Czech soldiers’ mission outpost in the former Yugoslavia, which was hit by mortar fire on August 5, 1995, killing two of them. As part of the festivities, you can visit a special exhibition titled “Tango 23 – Repetitor” free of charge at the Museum of Knife-Making Traditions, noting that the day of the festivities marks the 28th anniversary of that tragic event.

Car enthusiasts will also find something to enjoy, as they’ll be able to check out the Vintage Car Club’s exhibition. At the same time, they’ll also see how firefighters proceed when extricating injured victims from a car accident and how they use the new Rescue knife for this purpose.

You definitely don’t have to worry about bringing your children to the festival—they certainly won’t be bored. They’re sure to be captivated not only by the main program but also by contests prepared especially for them, a performance by the Alotrium fencing group, a bounce house, soccer darts, and zorbing balls.

We look forward to seeing you in Mikulášovice on Saturday, August 5, starting at 12:00 p.m.
