Superstitions Around Knives

19. června 2019

We are approaching the holiday season and Holidays are usually connected with campfires and storytelling. As an inspiration for a little scary narration, we now offer some of the legends about knives. It's up to you how to elaborate them, use the power of your imagination.

The most widespread superstition in the world seems to be that one should not give a knife as a gift because it can cut friendship with its sharpness. The only protection against this is that the recipient pays a small coin for the knife he receives from the giver. And so it is good to give the coin along with the knife. The recipient thus has the opportunity to pay for the knife right away, and he should also make a wish for the friendship to last.

It is also said that knives should not be given as wedding gifts because sharp knives could damage the strength of the marriage bond. So if you want to donate our great Ruby kitchen knives as a wedding gift, you must not be either superstitious or don't forget to give them at least two tiny crowns.

Apparently-according to many myths, we have to be superstitions even while sharpening knives. The knife is to be sharpened by day and not by dusk, as this can cause financial distress or illness.

Do you think everything related to knives is negative? We will prove you wrong. The knife is a great help not only at work but also in magic. If it is stuck in the front door of the house, it protects it against the evil and the devil. If it is stuck in the cradle it protects the child from bad luck. As manufacturers, however, we strongly advise you not to stab any type of a knife into a cradle, not even Rybička. It's better to wait for the baby to grow up and give it to him as the first knife he learns to handle.

Finally, when a witch or devil approaches the house, the knife thrown away is said to safely drive them away. But here, too, we need to be very careful, because the courts do not take seriously the claim that someone threw a knife around a neighbor because he thought an old witch was coming.

If you know a creepy story in which a knife plays a leading role, write it to us, we will be happy to publish it.
